   Meruem forces his way out of the womb at the cost of the Queen's life, and he is the most powerful of her offspring. He arrives arrogant, sure of his superiority and already thinking about what the world is for. It is not a scene of reasoning as such, but it sets the baseline the rest of his arc is built on: a mind running at a high level from the start, and one that has to unlearn certainty rather than acquire it. That is why he begins above the human ceiling and drops later.

   Meruem's fascination with the board game Gungi leads him to learn its rules and its strategy far faster than a human could. The interesting part is the speed. A human player has years of pattern recognition behind every move, and Meruem absorbs the same material in a fraction of the time and keeps improving game by game.
