How CCAT percentiles work

Your percentile is the share of test-takers you outscored: the 80th percentile beats 80 percent of them. Employers mostly use the percentile because it means the same thing across roles.

Criteria anchors the scale at 24 for the 50th percentile. The rest of the chart interpolates between points reported in published prep summaries, so treat each value as accurate to a few points.

Why the IQ column is a range

There is no official CCAT to IQ conversion. Our estimate assumes CCAT takers are slightly above average and that the CCAT correlates moderately with IQ. It shows the most likely IQ at each score plus a range covering about four in five people.

High scores are pulled towards average for the same reason a single good exam result is: some of it is luck on the day.
