No study separates general practitioners from other doctors, so this is the best figure for GPs.
On the standard scale, where 100 is the average, 120 is higher than about 91% of people. See what an IQ of 120 means, or check any score with the IQ percentile calculator or the IQ chart.
Your score next to doctors
Below the typical range for doctors in the studies. Plenty of people work in roles above their measured IQ; training and experience matter.
In the general population, 110 is higher than about 75% of people. Shaded band: middle 50% of doctors (112 to 127).
What the studies show
Physicians had the highest median of any job group in the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study: about 120, measured in high school decades before. A tenth scored below 106 and a tenth at or above 133, where the chart tops out.
No published source splits general practitioners from specialists. Medical school selection is similar for both, so the physician figure is the most honest answer for a GP.
The Wisconsin study is one US state, one generation born around 1939, and almost entirely white. Its IQ scale is anchored to Wisconsin high-school juniors in 1951, not to a national norm. Treat every figure as an estimate within a few points.

Making the career sustainable
People fail in high-load jobs for two reasons: insufficient systems or unmanaged stress. Both can be trained, if you treat them like skills.
General reasoning affects how fast people learn a role, but it is not a gate. Qualifications, practice, domain knowledge, tools, teamwork and job design all change performance.
